FEDERAL and STATE TAX CREDIT APPLICATIONS
A 3-part tax credit application is required in order to qualify for and use both federal and state tax credits. This involves evaluation of significance, description of rehabilitation, and documentation of completed work. Federal and state tax credits reduce the amount of income taxes owed, and in South Carolina can be combined to use on income-producing properties.

Additionally, some buildings located South Carolina may qualify for tax credits through the Abandoned Buildings Revitalization Act. BOARD + BATTEN will assist you in navigating the process of all of these options, while ensuring timely an accurate completion of applications.

NATIONAL and STATE REGISTER NOMINATIONS
Nominations to the National and State Register of Historic Places can open up significant funding opportunities. The nomination process requires intensive research, and technical information that works to describe the structure(s) and its history, revealing the historic significance to achieve listing. BOARD + BATTEN makes the nomination process simple for clients with a comprehensive understanding of the Secretary of the Interior's Standards and through open communication with the State's National Register. BOARD + BATTEN is committed to staying involved for as long as necessary, attending meetings with the State’s National Register staff  and making presentations to the State Review Board, who determines whether the property is worthy of forwarding to the Keeper of the National Register.
