"Preservation creates a vibrant sense of place that ties us to our past and shapes our future."

Growing up in the Blue Ridge Mountains of South Carolina, Rachel Parris first fell in love with the built environment during family vacations to Charleston. After receiving her BA in Historic Preservation from the College of Charleston, Rachel moved to Chicago to achieve her MS in Historic Preservation at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Degrees in hand, she moved west to Colorado and gained extensive experience in all aspects of historic preservation and project management. With expertise working with clients to produce results, Rachel brings an attention to detail to her work that gives her a strong ability to be effective, organized, enthusiastic and productive.

In the place of Rachel’s initial inspiration, Charleston, she and her husband, Andrew Redman, started BOARD + BATTEN Preservation. BOARD + BATTEN works specifically to see projects, National/State Register Nominations and tax credit applications through to completion.
